General Information, ROB DAVIDSON 11U KMBA Tournament, 2024 (Kincardine Minor Baseball)

This Tournament is part of the 2024 season, which is not set as the current season.
PrintGeneral Information

First Thank You for coming to our Tournament, looking forward to lots of great ball over the weekend.
Presently to set up the schedule one team had to be listed as Home and one Away - that is not accurate as we will be using a coin toss to determine home and away (as noted in the rules below).
We are asking for a Coach or Manager prior to the start of each game to come to Tout Field Pavilion (located between the front and back diamonds at Connaught). We will complete the coin toss there and give game balls and sheets at that time. There is one game currently scheduled at Point Clark a Tournament Rep will be at that diamond to facilitate the coin toss.

At Connaught park the pavilion will be open offerings drinks, snacks and hot dogs. It is a cash only operation.
For any teams that have not come to our facilities before we are right next to the beach so easy to cool off in between games.

2024 KMBA 11U Tournament Rules

1. All games will be played by Official Baseball Rules except as amended by the Ontario Baseball Association for any given Series.

2. Time limit will be in effect for every game except the final which will have no time limit. For all other games, no new inning will start 1.75 hours after the first pitch is thrown.

3. Max allowed runs per inning is 4.

4. All games will be a maximum of 7 innings in length, except for the semi-finals and final which will go to extra innings if needed. Ties will stand for round robin games. A game will end under mercy rules if the run difference reaches any of the following:

i.18 runs after 3 innings

ii.15 runs after 4 innings

iii.10 runs after 5 innings or any subsequent inning thereafter

5. If the home team leads after the top half of any such inning, the game shall be considered a mercy and the home team will not bat. Where the home team scores to take the lead in the 7th inning, any extra inning or any inning that will be the last inning because of a time limit, the game ends immediately. Similarly, if the home team scores a run that results in a mercy as described above the game ends immediately with that run.

6. If extra innings are required, OBA rule RP2.14 will be applicable (each half inning starts with a base runner on second base with 0 outs).

SECTION RP2.8 EXTRA-INNING RULES At 22U and below, the following extra inning procedure will be followed when the game is tied at the end of regulation play for all Baseball Ontario Rep sanctioned tournaments, Rep Play-offs, and Rep Elimination Tournaments: a. Each team will begin the extra inning (and any subsequent necessary extra innings) with a player on second base only, no outs. b. The placement of the runners of the extra inning will be determined by how the previous inning ended: i. The hitter with the last plate appearance in the previous inning will be placed at first base. ii. The hitter with the second-to-last plate appearance in the previous inning will be placed at second base. c. The traditional system of the visiting team hitting in the top of the inning and the home team hitting in the bottom of the inning will remain in effect until a winner is determined. d. All other Official Baseball Rules and Baseball Ontario rules remain in effect during extra innings. Example: If the last inning ends with the #6 batter having the last plate appearance, then the extra inning begins with the #7 batter at bat, and the #5 batter at second base, and the #6 batter at first base.

7. Home team for all games will be determined by a coin toss. The team the furthest distance from the diamond will call.

8. The home team is to keep the official score. The away team is to keep the official pitch count. Pitch count shall be captured real time during the game using the pitchcount app. After the game, home team is to report score and defensive innings to the field convenor on site. OBA arm care rules per OBA rule RP2.11 will be strictly enforced throughout the tournament.

9. Protests based on umpires’ judgment decisions will not be permitted. A protest based on an umpire’s interpretation of the rules must be lodged with the umpire before the game resumes, and the opposing team must also be advised by the umpire before the game resumes. All protests will be resolved by the Tournament Convenor immediately following the completion of the game under protest.

10. Standings after round robin play will be determined by highest number of points earned in round robin games. 2 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss. In the event that two teams have the same number of points after round robin play, tie breaker will be per OBA rule RP7.4:

i.Teams with a forfeit loss are ineligible for tiebreakers

ii.head to head record among tied teams;

iii.team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games among tied teams;

iv.team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games;

v.team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games among tied teams;

vi.team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games;

vii.coin toss

11. The higher seeded team will have the option to be the home team for each elimination game on Saturday/Sunday (bat first or second).

12. In the event that games are postponed due to weather, all reasonable attempts to reschedule games will be made such that the tournament can be completed at the discretion of the Tournament Convenor. In the event that not all games are completed, registration fees will be refunded on a pro-rated basis for games not played.

13. No infield practice will be allowed at any time during the tournament.
