KMBA Get Up And Play Initiative Starts TODAY!!
With Social distancing rules becoming more strict in an attempt to control the spread of Covid-19 the opportunities to stay active are becoming very limited. Kincardine Minor Baseball has been looking for ways to keep members active, promote skill improvement and learning opportunities.

To do this we would like to introduce the KMBA Get Up And Play initiative. This is an opportunity for KMBA registered baseball players to earn points for time spent performing baseball activities. During this time of social distancing, we all will have to get creative with baseball drills. Something as simple as throwing a ball against a wall, batting a ball hanging from the ceiling, playing catch with a family member, etc. The more time your player spends playing, the more points they will accumulate. Time can be spent indoors, outdoors, or both. Starting Wednesday April 1, a daily leaderboard will be updated on the KMBA website, to show how participants are doing. We are currently working towards acquiring some great prizes for the top performers at the end of the contest. The initiative will close when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, and we are able to get back out on the ball field.

To participate, starting April 1, all you need to do is email your player’s daily total minutes of baseball activities to [email protected]. You must include the players name, what he/she did related to baseball and how many minutes were spent doing each activity. Each minute will accumulate 1 point on the leaderboard. The winner will be the player who has accumulated the most points when we are able to return to the field.

As a bonus, KMBA will be releasing skill challenges on twitter and Facebook. The posts will provide a video demonstration of a KMBA coach, or Kincardine Cub player performing/describing a drill. In order to complete the challenge, a video of the player performing the drill needs to be posted to the KMBA twitter account, or Facebook account (If there is a problem with posting your player to social media, texting options can be used to complete the challenge) . Upon completion of the drill, the player will be awarded 50 bonus points towards their total.

This is intended to be a fun initiative to get the kids active in our current time of strict social distancing restrictions. All time reports will be based on the honour system, and hopefully we can have some fun and work on our baseball skills while still adhering to the social distancing policies in place. We hope everyone is staying healthy, and coping with this difficult time.
