11U Cards take silver at provincials.
11U CARDS TAKE SILVER AT THE 2022 OBA C CHAMPIONSHIPS IN LISTOWEL. So proud of this team (energy, attitude, toughness, heart and a lot of talent).
The Cards championship weekend was exciting for the team. Friday the boys got off to a good start facing a solid Lakeshore team and getting a 7-4 W. Friday afternoon had Pelham as the game 2 opponent and with an 10-1 W the Cards got a bye until Sat aft. The 3rd game of the weekend saw the 2 undefeated teams play and the boys came out strong with a 11-0 W over Caledonia. Guaranteed to play Sunday and restarting with the final 4 teams was goal 1# accomplished. An early Sunday and 3 hour rain delay was a bump in the road as the team lost to a scrappy Woodslee squad 11-5. With Listowel beating Caledonia, the Cards now got to play Woodslee again and boys wanted to bounce back and prove themselves, earning a spot in the final. They did just that! Woodslee -Kincardine was the loudest game of the tourney so far, with fans and benches cheering non stop. The Cards stayed the course and beat Woodslee 12-4 to get to play for gold vs the hometown Listowel team. To say Listowel loves their baseball is an understatement as 200 plus fans showed up to cheer on the 11U Legionairres! After being at the diamond for almost 12 hours the boys were still geared up and excited to play. What an experience for our Cards....loud fans, playing under the lights and extra ( 9 innings) total of exciting, back and forth baseball with both teams making incredible plays defensively.Unfortunately the Cards were not able to cash runners in the bottom of 9 and a very good Listowel team ended up winning at home. Congrats on a fun season boys....a lot of great memories made!
